  5. *** New Features ***
  6. • Global settings (default font, size, creator; linefeed stripping; other
  7. miscellaneous settings) now accessible from Preferences command in Options
  8. menu.
  9. • Cursor jumping with the '-' key is now an optional feature (from the
  10. Preferences dialog).
  11. • Y/N/C can be used instead of clicking on the Yes/No/Cancel buttons.
  12. Command-period works for cancel in all dialogs (I tested most of them!).
  13. All dialogs now feature highlighted default buttons.
  14. • Stationery-aware for all you System 7 people.  Stationery documents store
  15. text and settings and will open as Untitled.  Rebuild desktop to see new
  16. stationery icon (or use SaveABndl like I do).
  17. *** Bugs fixed ***
  18. • Double-clicking on a file too large to fit in memory now lets you know
  19. of the problem.
  20. • Balancing parentheses/braces/brackets in a large file now works (used
  21. an int for a long).
  22. • Menu hiliting has been streamlined.
  23. • Inadvertant switching when toggling num lock on or off under
  24. Apollo/PwrSwitcher has been fixed (put an extra delay in between ADB calls).

  28. *** Bugs fixed ***
  29. • Double-clicking to open an Edit II text file while Edit II was running
  30. frequently gave an File Manager error #-43 (file not found).  Would also
  31. manifest itself as crashing when choosing Open...  (Forgot to clear
  32. pb.ioFDirIndex).
  33. • Turned off 'Get FrontClicks' bit in SIZE resource to prevent erroneous
  34. clicks when switching into Edit II.

  39. • Major rearrangement (again) of the command key equivalents to be in line with
  40. the Apple User Interface Guidelines.  Check out the menus.
  41. • New documentation (in MacWrite format).
  42. • New Goodies menu which includes new functionality - Wrap, Unwrap and Remove
  43. Invisibles.
  44. • Windows menu has Tile, Layer, Close All, Save All.
  45. • Support for (virtually) unlimited windows -- subject to memory!
  46. • Page up/down does *not* change insertion point (as per interface guidelines).
  47. • Shift-arrows work OK now (selection extension).

  49. • Cursor now tracks properly (I-beam is properly set!)
  50. • Menu purged ID=84 error fixed (Menu #100 was set purgeable - a no-no!)

  56. *** New Features ***
  57. • You might want to rebuild the Desktop since I've included some colored icons
  58. for System 7.0.  The black 'n white icon has been slightly modified (added a pixel).
  59. • Size menu now friendlier under System 7.0, especially with TrueType/ATM fonts.
  60. • Larger and Smaller font size options added.
  61. • Reversed the version history in the ReadMe file so that the latest is at the top!
  62. *** Bugs fixed ***
  63. • Copy & Cut now not restricted to 32K of text (you should have sufficient space
  64. though, a check is made to ensure that twice the space is available - may be a
  65. bad heuristic but it seems to work ok).
  66. • Doing a Copy followed by closing the window did not transfer the stuff copied
  67. to the system scrap.  This has been fixed.
  68. • Slight rearrangement (again) of the command key equivalents.  Select All is now
  69. cmd-A, Find Again is now cmd-D.

  80. • EditPrefs file now contains print headers flag, number of spaces per tab.
  81. • Close now has cmd-W as the command key.  Consequently, Replace is now cmd-R,
  82. Replace and Find Again is cmd-Y, Page Setup is cmd-; and Print is cmd-P.
  83. • Print headers on each page is now optional.
  84. • Number of spaces per tab is now a global value and can be saved as a preference.
  85. This means that Set Tabs... will affect all future new windows and can be saved
  86. into the EditPrefs file.
  87. • The '-' key on the keypad now acts as a jump to previous insertion points (last 5).
  88. *** Bugs fixed ***
  89. • File list under Windows updates when an Untitled window is saved and when a
  90. window is Saved As another name.

  100. • Cursor updating now done via MultiFinder 'cursor moved' event rather than
  101. everytime through the main event loop (cosmetic 'bug' since I noticed that the
  102. cursor would 'stick' to the arrow when moving very rapidly from the scroll bar
  103. to the editing window).
  104. • Clipboard contents are updated when the program is quit.

  108. • EditPrefs file now includes a flag for New Untitled to optionally open a new
  109. untitled window on startup.  Default is to open the Untitled window.
  110. *** Bugs fixed ***
  111. • Selecting Quit from File menu and then selecting Cancel from the 'Save changes
  112. before quitting?' dialog would quit to the Finder anyway.
  113. • Now saves ETAB and EFNT information (tab/space and font/size resources) to the
  114. file if this is changed during edit.

  118. • EditPrefs file in the Preferences folder of the System Folder now contains the
  119. setup of the options, font, size and creator which were saved last.  Default
  120. settings are: the following options are enabled (Auto Indent and SmartStrip),
  121. font is Monaco, size is 9 and creator is EDIT.  Preferences file is not created
  122. if System Folder is on a locked disk (e.g. network server or locked local disk).
  123. • Balance command added to Edit menu to balance parentheses, braces and
  124. brackets.
  125. • Remove LFs command added to Edit menu to remove all linefeeds from window,
  126. if Strip LF or SmartStrip are not selected.
  127. • Select All added to Edit menu.

  129. • Typing the letter ‘O’ while in CursorPad mode would cause a cursor down
  130. operation in 1.0.2.
  131. • If Caps Lock key is down (and the Caps Lock LED is on) then hitting
  132. num lock to set CursorPad mode would turn off the Caps Lock LED.
  133. • NumLock LED would stay on when printing from the Finder.
  134. • ID=12 Bomb eliminated on quit from Edit II, due to calling non-existent ADB
  135. routines on Mac Plusses and below.
  136. (Operational tweak: removed Think's ANSI library to save a lot of space!)

  140. • Now recognizes the extended keyboard del, home, end, pgup and pgdn keys
  141. while in the Cursor Pad mode.
  142. • Fixed toggling of LEDs.
  143. • Added Enter Selection menu item in Search menu to allow for copying of
  144. the selected text into the Search String box in the Find dialog (a la Think C).
  145. You can enter the selected text and then use Find Again to look for
  146. its next occurence.
